Root Canal in Bryan and College Station, Texas
A root canal is one of the most common dental procedures performed, well over 14 million every year. This simple treatment can save your natural teeth and prevent the need for dental implants or bridges. At the center of your tooth is pulp. Pulp is a collection of blood vessels that helps to build the surrounding tooth.
No! Root canals relieve pain and pressure caused by the infection. Here are a few reasons you may need a root canal:
You may have asked yourself, do I need a root canal? Well, we are here to help! You would need a root canal if the never of the tooth is affected by decay or infections. Previously, the solution to teeth with damaged roots or infection was extraction. Our goal is to save the tooth. In order to do this, we remove the pulp (the living tissue inside the tooth), nerves, bacteria, and any decay.
When your root canal therapy has been completed, a follow-up restoration will be necessary; a permanent filling and dental crown. Based on the existing restoration on the tooth or lack thereof, Dr. Rahimi-Thornton will decide what type of restoration is necessary to protect your tooth and explain what is needed. Then, our front office team will schedule you a convenient appointment time to complete it. It is rare for endodontic patients to experience complications after routine endodontic treatment or microsurgery. If a problem does occur, however, we are available at all times to respond.
