What is a Bridge?

A bridge consists of an artificial tooth and two anchors on either side. Because the artificial tooth is created to imitate your tooth anatomy, no one will notice that it’s not real. Both anchors were designed to blend in flawlessly with your teeth. The anchors are usually dental crowns that are capped onto the surrounding teeth. There are, however, different ways to attach the anchors, especially if you are missing numerous teeth. Bridges are made of a variety of materials, just as crowns. The best way to figure out what will work best for you is to meet with our doctor.

A dental bridge comes with many benefits for your oral health and the cosmetic appearance of your smile. Some of these benefits include:

The Dental Bridge Procedure

A dental bridge is a straightforward treatment finished in just two dental visits. At your first appointment, we will take digital x-rays and imprints of your teeth to ensure optimal sizing for the bridge. Following that, we will need to shave down the enamel of several of your teeth to make place for the crowns that will act as your mouth’s anchors. We will build a whole prosthetic tooth for tooth replication and replacement. You will be given a temporary bridge while waiting for your bridge to be built.

At your next dental appointment, the bridge will be cemented into place. This may feel unusual at first, but you will soon forget about the bridge in your mouth. There may be some sensitivity in your mouth, particularly around your gum line, but it should not last. Your bridge is immediately ready for usage. Follow-up visits to the dentist may be necessary to ensure that the bridge fits properly and is not causing you any discomfort. You don’t have to wait for us to contact you if you have any pain or discomfort. Please come in as soon as possible to resolve the problem.

A dental bridge is a minimally invasive dental procedure, which means it’s quick, painless, and easy to do. It’s crucial to care for your bridge as if it were your natural teeth. If properly maintained, the bridge will last for many years. After your bridge is set in place, we will give you personalized advice on caring for it.
